<p>The Spring Egg Hunt is an event for the whole family to enjoy. Kick off spring in the Fourth District with an age old tradition that is even celebrated at the White House.</p>

<p>The Fashion Show will be collaboration with <strong>Moss &amp; Rock Fashion</strong> who will model their clothes with hair and makeup done by the stylists at The Loft on Broadway.  A jewelry booth will be hosted by <strong>Clark David Emporium consignment Fashion Jewelry</strong>, a DJ will provide the music, and there will be a silent auction of art and adult goodies.   Proceeds will go to<strong> The American Cancer Society &amp; The Humane Society of the United States</strong> and all guests at the event will have an opportunity to bid for these items.  There will also be a raffle and giveaway of items donated by local businesses, including:<strong> Olive’s Gourmet Grocer, Pussy &amp; Pooch, Modica’s Italian Deli, Café Piccolo</strong>, and others.</p>

<p><strong>Long Beach and Southern California home sales</strong> show an increase in volume to the highest levels in 5 years. Most of these sales are in the low and very moderate range of prices pushing the median price of homes sold down 3.7% from last year.</p>
<p>The <strong>Long Beach home sales</strong> pushing the numbers up were in the under $300,000 price range while homes selling for over $800,000 actually dropped. A large part of this swing is because the lower end of the home market is going cheap and attracting investors.</p>
<p>Investors are snapping up the low priced <strong>Long Beach homes</strong> in anticipation of a housing recovery expected in 12 months or there about. In the mean time they will either fix and hold or fix and rent. Foreclosures, shortsales and other distressed properties are in high demand.</p>
<p>In line with this trend the Federal government through the mortgage titans Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae anticipates bundling groups of foreclosed properties to offer to investors. The hope is to convert some 250,000 homes owned by the federal government entitiles including FHA into rental properties.</p>
<p>In the meantime the number of foreclosures in Los Angeles and Orange Counties dropped 18%  from the same period last year. This contributes further  to the stabilization of the housing market in Long Beach and Southern California.</p>
<p>This allows us to conclude that the<strong> Long Beach and Southern California housing</strong> market has seen bottom even if full recovery is a year or more away.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center">Fund-raising Event to Benefit Homeless</h3>
<p>Looking for something fun and exciting to do this weekend?  How about attending the red-carpet, star-studded screening of a movie produced right here in Long Beach? <strong> The Art Theatre of Long Beach</strong> will present, &#8220;Halloween Party&#8221; this Saturday, March 24th, at 9pm in a special pre-release screening to benefit the organization, <strong>National Coalition of the Homeless</strong>.  All proceeds from this screening will be donated to this cause in an attempt to help what has become a nationwide problem.</p>
<p><strong>Along with her fellow producers and Long Beach residents, Mark Cardone and Sandy Robinson, Linda Palmer brings her</strong> directorial debut to her hometown big screen.   “We’re happy to have audiences see the film prior to its October 2012 release because it deals with a homeless man who is dragged into a party in a case of mistaken identity, and since no one can easily judge each other on appearance, many characters come to like this gentle, educated man.  Having known people myself who have become homeless in recent years, I often wonder how someone arrived at that place, and what we (society) would do if we got to know them,” states writer/director, Palmer.</p>
<p>All three producers and many of the people working on the film are from the Long Beach community and the film was shot entirely in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach.  Robinson, an alum of CSULB, brought on board eight CSULB students as interns who worked in various positions on the film.  Since the movie was shot in the producers’ homes, many neighbors were involved decorating their homes, serving as extras, and even being cast as significant party goers in the movie during the ten-day shoot last July.</p>
<p>The romantic comedy is about a girl searching for love on the most deceptive night of the year, Halloween.  She is invited to her friends&#8217; party, where she knows everyone will be &#8216;paired up&#8217; and she will likely bump into exes and undesirables.  She reluctantly attends, and after a random encounter, laughter ensues.  The film boasts a killer soundtrack full of original music, a hilarious script with funny lines and characters, and a stellar cast who brings it all to life and laughs!</p>
<p><strong>The special event screening will take place at 9pm this Saturday, March 24th, at the Art Theatre, 2025 E. 4<sup>th</sup> Street, Long Beach, CA 90814. </strong> Tickets will be made available to the public for a suggested donation of $15 per ticket.  It would likely receive an R rating but is unrated at this time.  No nudity, adult material.  Guests are encouraged to dress in Halloween Costumes.  The event includes: mingling to 30 minutes of  the soundtrack as you get a chance to win raffle prizes donated by local businesses, listen to a two-song performance from one of our amazing song writer/producer/singers, Bryan Steel, an informational video from our national non-profit organization, two additional music videos from other music artists, and then the feature presentation with a Q&amp;A afterward with the filmmakers and talent in  the audience.</p>

<p>The very popular <strong>Belmont Shore Chocolate Festiva</strong>l returns this weekend along with a few changes.  In the past, the event was held in February on a weekend close to Valentine’s Day, but with moving to March comes a new name &#8212; <strong>The</strong> <strong>Belmont Shore Chocolate Festival &amp; Spring Sweets!</strong>  This year’s festival will be a Spring event held on this Saturday, March 24, from 1pm until 4pm.  During the Festival, many Belmont Shore Businesses along 2<sup>nd</sup> Street will be offering an array of Chocolate Treats for all chocolate lovers as well as other Spring Sweets for the entire family to sample.</p>
<p>There is no entry fee for the event, only the cost of tickets used to purchase the chocolate items.  Books of twelve tickets are $10 and will be sold the week of the event at various locations in the Shore, inluding: La Strada, Mail Boxes, Etc., Sweet Jill’s, We Olive, and The Beach on 2nd Street.  Tickets may be purchased during the festival in front of Chase Bank which is located at 5200 E 2nd Street.</p>
<p>Something that will not change is <strong>The Homemade Chocolate Dessert Contest</strong> for those who think they have a recipe for a chocolate dessert worthy of an award.  A panel of judges will sample the desserts and choose winners in three categories: Chocolate Cakes &amp; Pies, Chocolate Cookies &amp; Brownies, and Unique Chocolate Treats.  Entry forms are available on the events page of the Belmont Shore website.  It costs $10 per dessert to enter.  The contest tent will be located on Corona Avenue.  (Only judges may sample the desserts.)</p>
<p>Those who would rather eat chocolate than make it are welcome to enter the <strong>Hof&#8217;s Hut</strong> <strong>Chocolate Pie Eating Contest</strong>.  Contestants will race each other to see who can eat an individual size chocolate cream pie the fastest. Winners of all contests will be announced at 4:00PM on Corona Ave. (south of 2<sup>nd</sup> St.) and will receive trophies. The following are the age categories and contest times:  3:00 PM Kids 6 – 8; 3:30PM Kids 15 – 17; 3:10 PM Kids 9 -11; 3:40PM Adults; 3:20 PM Kids 12 – 14.</p>

<p>Califoria received $2 Billion from the federal government’s<strong> Hardest Hit Program</strong> whih can pay upto 9 months of mortgage payments for the unemployed. From this came the<strong> California Keep Your Home Program</strong>. While the program has been in effective for a year bureaucratic red tape prevented the jobless from being informed about it.</p>
<p>Now at least the Employment Develeopment Department has mailed the information to the 11 million jobless in the state. Because of the lack of intormation only 2% of the funds had been disbursed by the end of last year</p>
<p>The program initially had two componeents the $772 million principal reduction programs which was to encourage banks to write down mortgages in a dollar to dollar match. However Bank of America was the only big bank to sign up for the program.</p>
<p>The emphasis has now switched to helping jobless make mortgage payments with a smaller amount for helping homowners who have fallen behind catch up on their payments.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Shamrock &#8216;N&#8217; Roll on the Queen Mary St. Patrick&#8217;s Day</h3>
<p>Saturday, March 17, the Queen Mary presents Shamrock &#8216;N&#8217; Roll, a celebration of St. Patrick&#8217;s Day with music from 6:00 pm to midnight aboard the Queen Mary. Live entertainment includes old Irish party music as well as modern Celtic Rock.</p>
<p>The party begins with a DJ in the Observation Bar and in the Queen&#8217;s Salon from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Party guests may dine at the Chelsea Chowder House or Sir Winston&#8217;s Restaurant and Lounge. They may also choose to dine more casually at the Promenade Cafe.</p>
<p>The first live music show begins at 7:00 pm in the Royal Salon. The band Oxalis, a Southern California -based band that plays contemporary and traditional Irish music, will take the stage. This is bound to be a thrilling experience for fans of Celtic music. Band members play many traditional Irish instruments including the Irish flute, the Bodhran (Irish drum) and the Celtic autoharp. Of course it would not be an Irish band without the fiddle, so Oxalis has gone one better with two fiddlers. Their show continues to 10:00 pm.</p>
<p>Sligo Rags, an Irish acoustical band from Los Angeles, will perform from 9:00 pm to midnight in the Observation Bar. Their interesting name is taken from a traditional Celtic song, “The Irish Rover” in which the third line of the song begins with the lyrics, “We had one million bags of the best Sligo Rags.” Sligo Rags has been voted one of the top acoustical bands by Folkworks Magazine and is a two-time winner of the Orange County Music awards for best folk band. They are known for playing Celtic music with a bluegrass influence.</p>
<p>If  Irish music is not to your taste, there is a third band, Hollywood Stones, a Rolling Stones tribute band. They will rock the Queen&#8217;s Salon from 9:00 pm to midnight. Hollywood Stones have been praised as a great band by the likes of Dick Clark, Eric Burdon of The Animals, and Slash from Guns and Roses.</p>

Inventory is lower making this somewhat more of a seller&#8217;s market with just 3 months worth of supply<strong>. </strong>Sales were in the lower price ranges. Properties on the higher end oftthe price range, however are not moving. The average price of condos sold <strong>in Downtown</strong> and <strong>Alamitos Beach</strong> areas of <strong>Long Beach</strong> was $201,000 which is still a significant drop from the fourth quarter of 2011.</p>
